Tenant Policies

The following criteria reflect the minimum requirements for consideration for admission into an IURTC business incubator. Meeting these criteria is not a guarantee of admission. After a full application and business plan are received, the Advisory Board will meet to discuss further action. These criteria are only provided as a guideline for application.

1. The applicant’s technology is applicable to health care, life sciences, or biotechnology.
2. The applicant’s technology is well protected and exclusive, without any existing interferences or infringements.
3. The applicant’s technology is focused on a potential commercial application.
4. The applicant has adequate capitalization to provide for six (6) months of viable operation and a plan for further financial stability; can pay six (6) months of rent to the IUETC; and has a viable financial plan for the company.
5. The applicant’s business plan addresses the following:
   • Potential markets and their size
   • Growth potential for each product line
   • Complete financial pro formas
6. Personnel growth and acquisition plan for the next three (3) years
7. Exit strategies and how those will be accomplished
8. The economic development potential for Central Indiana and the state
9. The applicant’s management has sufficient technical expertise in the field.
10. The applicant demonstrates the appropriate mix of qualified personnel in market management, financial management, and employee management.
11. The applicant supports and enhances the educations mission of Indiana University and its affiliates:
    • Through hiring or internships, or
    • Through board membership, or
    • Through licensing or acquisition of services
    • By other means.
12. The applicant fits within the operational model of the facility, including space requirements (less than 3,500 square feet), rent payment, equipment or facility requirements, and any other requirements.
13. The applicant does not exceed the space available or does not need special arrangements that cannot be supplied.
