Bill Stephan

Bill Stephan was chosen as IU’s first vice president for engagement in 2007. During his tenure, he has helped obtain a $15 million grant from the Lilly Foundation to start the Pervasive Technology Institute at Indiana University. He also led the establishment of the Indiana University Innovation Center, a business incubator on the IU Bloomington campus, and helped secure $8.9 million in funding from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) for the Life Sciences Initiative.

Bill has served as president and CEO of the Indianapolis Private Industry Council, in several economic development roles at Indiana University, and as senior vice president for corporate communications and community relations at Clarian Health.
